Title I - A

Education for the Disadvantaged

Title I-A is a federal program that provides supplementary academic services to those students who have the greatest need. Schools qualify for Title I-A services based on their free/reduced lunch percentages. In the Oregon City School District, five elementary schools (plus one private school - St. John the Apostle) qualify as Title I-A schools. The five OCSD schools (Candy Lane, Gaffney Lane, Holcomb, Jennings Lodge and Redland) have school wide Title programs which allow the schools to support any student who is in academic need during the school year.

The majority of Title I-A funds are passed on to the Title I-A schools to support the hiring of paraprofessionals, and the purchase of materials and supplies. In addition, Title I-A funds are used to support supplementary activities such as: program administrative support, District Homeless Liaison, Community Involvement Coordinator, portions of the district's teachers on special assignment, professional development, parent involvement activities, and more.  For more information visit ed.gov
